Another week has passed and I've been quite busy. It looks as if, Welcome to Utopia, the edit stage, will soon be completed and my turn to correct it will be at hand. I hope to have the manuscript back in time for me to work on it during the Thanksgiving break. By then my life will have slowed down to just a speeding rocket.
On the other writing front I have finished my first piece of short fiction and as you can see by my title entered into my first writing contest. I can't believe it took me all these years to take a shot at putting myself out there. I did do a mini-contest a few years back on a website called fanstory.com but it was a writing prompt that I quickly did and entered. I revised this piece a number of times and fretted over the title for what seemed like hours if not days. I finally titled it, "Curveball," my wife agreed that was a perfect name. Malia, however, wanted me to steal the title, "For the Love of the Game," but I admire Michael Sharra too much to do so. FYI - his book, The Killer Angels, is a classic - and the book of, For the Love of the Game, is better than the movie. Although I have to admit I'm a sucker for those chick flicks that mix in a good dose of sport.
So as I get ready to open up a Word document and begin writing yet another short story I have in mind (actually, revising an old one) the lesson for today to all you writers out there is - just keep writing...
