Family. You're stuck with what God has given you. A portion of my clan has infiltrated my mom and dad's house here in Piedmont, South Dakota. None of them read my blog last time which means none of them helped me pick out a name for my novel. Then there's mom. The one we always can rely on to lift our spirits when times are bad, clean our scraps and cuts when we fall, tell us they love us when we feel unlovable, and are "so proud of us" even when we only get the participation trophy.
But not my mom. NOOOOOO! She's busy looking for what she can get rather than help her own flesh and blood. She tried to hide under the guise of, "I just can't think of anything," for naming my book but eventually the truth came out.
"What's the prize?" she asked.
"A free copy of my book!" I replied.
"Oh," she said with disdain and quickly turned away. she continued, "I thought, as your mother, I would already get a free copy."
She didn't say it but I could hear her thoughts: so what's in it for me?
After hearing a loud crack echo throughout the world (that was my heart breaking) I decided the only thing I can do is give my mom (and family) another chance. Certainly I've had my share of second chances, so it was the right thing to do. So family, click here and read my last post. Come up with a name... something.... please... and anyone else who has yet to enter the contest. I do have a favorite at this point, but the title is important enough to take my time with.
And because (can you believe I have to do this?) I now feel obligated to "bribe" my own mother for her help - I promise, mom, that your prize will be something more than "just" (her words) a copy of my novel.
If you haven't done so already - register for this blog - it's free!
Here is the cover of the book that I hope will inspire my family to help! God Bless!
